Montrose County is keeping its options open regarding Fixed Base Operations in and out of the county’s Regional Airport.  The airport’s current and lone Fixed Base Operator is Black Canyon Jet Center.   On Tuesday the Board of Supervisors announced that the county will embark on a ‘transparent’ competitive bidding process that will pave the way for a second Fixed Base Operation at Montrose Airport.  Montrose County Media Relations Manager Katie Yergensen says County Commissioners decided to move forward with the process after being contacted by a number of private business operators with requests to make a proposal.

The deadline for Fixed Base Operators to submit proposals to the county is September 18th.  Commissioners are expected to make their selection this October.
