All Points Transit, Montrose’s local Dial a Ride city bus service, has just brought on a new Executive Director. Sharon Fipps will officially join the All Points team in September and brings 8-years of transportation experience with her from Corvallis, Oregon. All Points spokesperson Sarah Curtis states that Fipps is uniquely qualified for the job. Fipps holds a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism and marketing from Metropolitan State University of Denver, and for the past eight years, has managed the Benton County Rural and Special Transportation service in Corvallis, Oregon. In that position she provided specialized transportation services for seniors and persons with disabilities and the general public, and served as a founding member of a five-county transit alliance that provided connecting transit services between five counties in the northwest corner of the state. The five transit agencies were awarded a $3.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to create cross-county transportation services for both commuters and tourists in Oregon.
Fipps experience and background with grant writing will be put to good use in Montrose.
