The Montrose Recreation Department Board voted to pursue a sales tax increase on the upcoming spring ballot. This decision comes on the heels of the public presentation of the Community Recreation Center and Woodgate Master Plan. Surveys were solicited from attendees and presented to the MRD Board. This feedback contributed to the board’s decision to pursue a 0.2% percent sales tax increase to bridge the funding gap. If passed, Montrose’s sales tax rate would increase from 7.65% to 7.85% until $11 point 7 million is collected.
