If you carry around a lot of cash, beware of thieves and the government. At around 10 AM On February 9th State Patrol pulled over a Ford Expedition on I-70 near Loma for speeding and an obstructed rear plate. After the California driver gave the Patrol Sgt. Permission to search the SUV, almost 17 thousand dollars in cash was seized. State Police say the cash was seized on suspicion of being proceeds from drug trafficking. The Daily Sentinel reported Monday that state patrol was forced to fork over the money to Homeland Security. No reason for federal involvement was cited.
