Simms Mesa Burn Planned

The Bureau of Land Management’s Uncompahgre Field Office will begin a prescribed burn on Simms Mesa on March 18. It's about twelve miles south of Montrose. The project will last 8 days and treat up to 200 acres.

Otter Road Bridge is Open

The Otter Road Bridge Construction Project is complete. Contractors working for the City of Montrose finished the bridge replacement over the Loutsenhizer Irrigation Canal. Final paving of the road will occur next month.

Farm Bureau Helping Wildfire Victims

The Colorado Farm Bureau is heading an effort to raise money for farmers affected by a massive wildfire. The fire has burned over 30-thousand-acres in Logan and Phillips counties and left farmers without supplies, equipment and fields. Money raised by the Farm Bureau will go directly to the farmers affected for supplies like cattle feed and hay.

Motorcyclist Injured in Crash Near Egnar

A 31 year-old Florida man was found with multiple injuries following a motorcycle accident and a subsequent extensive, multiagency-overnight search for him in blizzard-like conditions Monday near Egnar, 100 miles west of Telluride.

Gunnison Commissioners Against Local Control

Gunnison County Commissioners have come out against the transfer of federal public lands to local governments. Over 80% of Gunnison County is federal government controlled land, and the BOCC claims those lands are essential to the health of the County’s communities.

Drug Raid in Delta

Police raided a Delta home at 205 East 5th street on March 3rd. During the investigation, a handgun, ammunition, suspected heroin, marijuana, and explosives were found. Police say 22 year Alexander Fultz was was placed on a parole hold and 21 year old Seth Brave was arrested on two warrants.

Fake Signs

Someone is going around San Juan County Utah putting up fake entrance signs for the Bears Ears National Monument. The signs say the entrance fee for the monument is 100-dollars and must be paid at the Navajo Tribal Park.

Delta Man Charged With Meth Possession

A Delta man was jailed for alleged meth possession on March 1st. According to the arrest affidavit. 47 year old Brian Burstein was walking on a path behind Tractor Supply at around 2:45 in the afternoon. Police were called to the scene as Burstein recently had a spat with a woman in the Ace Parking lot. Police discovered Burstein with an unloaded .22, a butterfly knife, two syringes and methanphetamine.
