Cases of mumps are on the rise in Colorado. While one-thousand cases nationwide may seem relatively small, it's actually a big number for mumps. Before 2016, Colorado ordinarily only reported 17 cases or so. This year, there have already been 61-cases.

Tipton Townhall

3rd district Colorado Congressman Scott Tipton will host a town hall Friday night from 6:00 to 7:00 at the Montrose High School Gymnasium. Geoff Schramm is chairman of the Montrose County Republican Party. He suspects 200 to 300 people will attend.

Brauchler Will Run For Governor

The man who tried the case against Aurora theater shooter James Holmes will run for governor next year. George Brauchler tells the "Denver Post" he will announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination today. Brauchler says he will focus on education and transportation as the two main issues in his campaign.

Grand Junction Voters Reject 2A

Taxpayers in Grand Junction aren't willing to foot the bill to build a new event center. Voters rejected a quarter-percent sales tax increase yesterday that would have built an event center and made repairs to the Two Rivers Convention Center.

Impact Fees Nixed

At Monday’s regularly scheduled Board meeting, the Montrose County Board of County Commissioners voted to eliminate development impact fees. The Board rescinded all previous resolutions adopting the fees. The elimination of the fee is effective immediately. This change will lower the cost of a building permit for a single family home by $2,779.80.

Toilet Rebate

The City of Montrose is offering rebates for replacing your toilets with efficiency models. To be eligible the model must be a qualified WaterSense labeled toilet that uses either 1.0 gallon per flush ($25 rebate) or 0.8 gallons per flush. Submit an application to the city with a receipt showing the brand and model number for the new toilet to get a 25 or 50 dollar rebate.

36 Year Found Dead

Montrose Police are investigating the death of a 36 year old man on the 1200 block of east Main. The man was found at around 4 PM on Monday.

On March 30, 31 of 2017, The Montrose Police Department joined forces with several law enforcement agencies which included the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Colorado State Patrol, Montrose County Sheriff's Office, Delta County Sheriff's Office, Delta Police Department, and the 7th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
