The Western Colorado Drug Task Force seized 25 pounds of meth and several firearms in Mesa County. Four suspects were arrested on Thursday on several drug charges and money laundering charges. .52 year old Daniel Randall, 52, is being held on a $200,000 bond, 37 year old Aaron Cobb is being held on a $150,000 bond, 39 year old Amber Adams and 36 year old Sarah Sutton, are being held on bonds set at $100,000.

Popular Trail Closed for Five Days

A popular trail in Garfield County will close for five days to clean and prepare the area for a busy summer. Hanging Lake Trail near Glenwood Springs will close early Sunday morning and remain closed until Friday. The U.S. Forest Service says the trail has been the target of vandalism and has suffered from overcrowding and trash.

Victory for Ag in Delta County

The Hostetler Chicken farm near Hotchkiss won their court case against a next door neighbor. The plaintiff Susan Raymond sued to shut down the farm near Powell Mesa claiming she suffered health issues due to the facility. reports, a six-person jury handed down concurrent verdicts of ‘no’ to the claim of trespass against the owner of the egg-laying facility Edwin Hostetler and ‘no’ to the claim of trespass against his corporation.

Help Need to Identify Human Remains

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office wants your help identifying the skeletal remains found last December 20 near 27 ¼ Road and B ½ Road in Orchard Mesa. KREX is reporting there are no signs of foul play and the remains belong to an adult male, age 25 to 40 and believed to be of white and Hispanic ethnicity.

Impact Fees Nixed

At Monday’s regularly scheduled Board meeting, the Montrose County Board of County Commissioners voted to eliminate development impact fees. The Board rescinded all previous resolutions adopting the fees. The elimination of the fee is effective immediately. This change will lower the cost of a building permit for a single family home by $2,779.80.

Road & Bridge Structure to be Scrapped

Montrose County Commissioners voted to scrap the metal building at their road and bridge property on LaSalle near  north Townsend avenue. Officials say the building isn't suitable for a road and bridge department. The property previously belonged to United Companies. Construction has already begun on a new road and bridge building at the property.

Drive By Shooting

A man was cited after he allegedly shot his firearm from the vehicle he was riding in. According to the Montrose County Police Blotter, Deputies were called to Elephant Skin Road last Friday afternoon just after 1:00. 40 year old Ramon Perez-Cisneros was charged with having a loaded gun in a vehicle and shooting from a public road.

Dead Body Found

Garfield County authorities are investigating a gruesome discovery found on the banks of the Colorado River. Investigators say a body was discovered near a bloody knife along the river in an area west of New Castle. Authorities say the body might be linked to a botched auto theft that happened a few days before Christmas.

Remains Found in Fremont County

The Fremont County Sheriff's Office confirms that human remains were found in the western part of the county last week. A hiker came across the remains last Wednesday and a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office says they belong to a white male between 25 and 50-years-old.
