One Person Injured in Apartment Fire

One person was injured in an apartment fire in north Delta last Thursday. Delta Police say the blaze occurred in the afternoon at 1549 Highway 50. The resident was treated at Delta County Memorial Hospital.

Red Flag Warning

A RED FLAG WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR SOUTHWESTERN COLORADO. A wildfire burning west of Canon City is creating smoke and haze visible on the western slope. The Hayden Pass fire has burned five-thousand-acres in Fremont County, and officials with the U.S. Forest Service say there was no containment on the fire as of last night.

Wildfire in Northern Colorado

The wildfire near the Colorado-Wyoming border is growing. The fire broke out on Sunday afternoon. It has burned about seven-thousand acres of land.

Pitch/Kelso Fires Update

Firefighting the Pitch and Kelso Fires on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests continue today (Thursday). The Pitch Fire remains at just over 400 acres and the perimeter is holding. The Unaweep Fire Module was reassigned to assist on the Kelso Fire. Other fire resources remain to work on “hot spots” and to ensure the perimeter remains intact.

Pitch/Kelso Fires

Firefighters for the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests were busy Saturday continuing to manage the Pitch and Kelso Fires. A large column of smoke could be seen looking south from Grand Junction, Delta and Montrose. This column was the result of a prescribed burn on the Manti-LaSalle National Forest in Utah.

Woman Found Dead at Scene of Fire

In the late evening of May 26th  67 year old Linda Batchelor was discovered deceased in a burning mobile home in rural Olathe. An autopsy will be scheduled to confirm identity and determine cause and manner of death.

Home Gutted by Fire

A home on Liberty road in Montrose burned last night. Nobody was injured and the cause of the fire has not been released. The Daily Press Reports Kevin Keenan lived in the home with his fiancé and two children under 2 years of age.

Rifle Scores Fire Quarters

Governor Hickenlooper announced Colorado’s new aerial firefighting headquarters will be going to Rifle. The Division of Fire and Prevention said Rifle and Garfield County stood out as the best choice for the high tech facility. State lawmakers approved the aerial firefighting efforts last year.
