A woman decided to sunbathe topless on Last Dollar Road near Telluride Airport. The San Miguel County Sheriff's office received several complaints about the nudist last Sunday afternoon (March 19th). According to the Sheriff's office blotter, deputies told the woman that her nudity was offensive to the general public and told to sunbathe somewhere else.

A 31 year-old Florida man was found with multiple injuries following a motorcycle accident and a subsequent extensive, multiagency-overnight search for him in blizzard-like conditions Monday near Egnar, 100 miles west of Telluride.

Tell your friends and relatives to beware of random swindlers. On February 13th, a Norwood woman claims she was called by a people who said her grandson had been hurt and arrested in the Dominican Republic. The grifters demanded money gram for $860.00 to get the grandson out of trouble. The woman was was allowed to speak with her "grandson", who explained his sudden Hispanic accent as a result of his broken nose.

A tour bus slid off the road last Thursday night in Naturita. The San Miguel County Sheriff's said the bus slid off the road south of Montrose on Highway 145.

A Texas woman who fell overboard in a guided raft trip down the San Miguel River is alive following a cold water drowning, a dramatic rescue and CPR from a well-trained guide.

|Snowmobiler Rescued in San Miguel County|

A missing snowmobiler was rescued Monday afternoon after a 13 hour search near Telluride. 45 year-old Charles Ditmore of California told deputies that he started his snowmobile ride alone from a Browns Ranch home. Ditmore was found uninjured the next afternoon. He said his snowmobile got stuck in snow in a ravine near Paradox Road in Ouray County.

|San Miguel County authorities, first responders, and citizens rallied to help a snowmobiler. This past Tuesday afternoon a 64 year old Norwood woman was seriously injured in a snowmobile accident in the Beaver Park backcountry. Authorities say, she struck a ditch and was ejected and sustained serious blunt force trauma. Her husband drove his snowmobile about eight miles to ask snowmobile guides for help. |

A 35 year-old wanted Indiana man was taken into custody Monday by San Miguel County Sheriff Deputies after they received tips from Indiana bail bond agents who were searching for the felon in the county.More

San Miguel Sheriff's deputies are searching for an Egnar man who is considered armed, dangerous and mentally unstable. 55 year-old Eldon Dick is wanted for multiple charges including two felonies and has recently threatened to kill San Miguel County Deputies. Last week Sheriff Deputies were contacted by a family renting a home on Mr. Dick’s Egnar property who claim that they had been harassed. Deputies executed a search warrant at Mr. Dick’s home on Thursday and found an estimated $5,500 worth of alleged stolen property. The sheriff's office says, Dick was last known to be in the Western Colorado or Eastern Utah. He may be driving a new, full-sized pickup truck, grey in color, with temporary tags.

|Telluride Man Convicted and Sentenced|

41 year old Benjamin Yoho, of Telluride and Ouray, was convicted and sentenced earlier this week following a one day bench trial before U.S. Magistrate David L. West in Durango of crimes related to the massive littering of an area north of Telluride within the Uncompahgre National Forest, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Forest Service, and the San Miguel County Sheriff announced. From a period of October, 2014, through April, 2015, Yoho not only lived and maintained a structure on National Forest System Lands, but also transported large quantities of items from the Telluride “Free Box” to National Forest System Lands where he littered a large area near the Jud Wiebe Trail. A volunteer effort was mobilized in May, 2015, and with the help of 48 volunteers and numerous crewpersons with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, approximately 8500 pounds of debris was removed from the forest by helicopter.More
