Montrose is participating in the National Mayor’s Water Challenge throughout the month of April. It's a campaign to see which Mayor can best inspire their residents to make internet pledges to reduce water and energy usage. Mayor Rex Swanson is exhorting you to pledge at MyWaterPledge.com. Cities with the highest percentage of participation become eligible to win prizes.
|Legal Water Collections Begins Today|

You can legally collect rain water on your own property. As of today you'll be able to use two, 55-gallon rain barrels for that purpose. The law was recently changed by the state Legislature. Residents will be allowed to use the water collected to water their lawns or gardens.

|Life Jacket Rules Enforced|

A Colorado Parks & Wildlife press release says life jackets are required for all types of water craft.
That means, power boats, pontoons, paddleboards, jet skis, kayaks, sailboats, canoes and even rowboats. You must carry one life jacket for every passenger.
