|Crib Wall Replacement on 550|

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor Rock & Company will soon begin work to improve the safety and integrity of US Highway (US) 550 by replacing several under-highway downhill retaining walls, known as crib walls, on Molas Pass, just south of Silverton in San Juan County. Two separate crib walls will be reconstructed, one at mile point (MP) 68.6 and one at MP 68.75, approximately two miles south of Silverton. During construction motorists will be restricted to single-lane alternating traffic through the project zone.

|Watercraft Banned at Lemon|

The U.S. Forest Service is banning motorized watercraft on a southwest Colorado reservoir. The agency announced yesterday that it would ban boats with motors on the Lemon Reservoir for the next three years. The Forest Service said in a news release that the reservoir just northwest of Durango was being threatened by invasive species such as zebra mussels.

Investment banker Doug Robinson announced his candidacy for the 2018 race in a letter sent to Republican supporters. |New details in the investigation of the death of two dogs in Mesa County show they may have been placed on a set of railroad tracks after they died. KKCO-TV reports that a Union Pacific train conductor told the Mesa County Sheriff's Office that the two pit bulls were definitely dead before a train hit them last week near Orchard Mesa. The impact from the train decapitated both dogs and investigators are trying to find out how the dogs got onto the tracks. |
