Nucla Man Jailed

A Nucla man is in jail for allegedly threatening and assaulting a woman with a knife and scissors. This happened in a camper trailer, parked at a home on 2180 road in Nucla. The Sheriff’s office says 39 year old Adam Haining faces five charges including 3rd degree assault and he damaged the holding cell. [...]

Ex Employee at Center of Airport Investigation

A Telluride lawyer says the federal fraud investigation of Grand Junction Regional Airport originated from a former employee. The Daily Sentinel reports attorney John Steel says his client, Donna Van Landingham, was forced out after she threatened to blow the whistle on airport officials. No arrests have been made.

Plane Retrieved From Reservoir

A salvage team is retrieved the bodies of five people and the wreckage of the airplane from Ridgway reservoir. Authorities haven’t officially released the victims’ names. The flight originated in Ala., and was flying to Montrose on Saturday when it crashed.

Teachers of the Year

Montrose Education Foundation announced their public school teachers of the year for the Montrose Olathe School District. They are Nora Waldow, Teresa Brown and Mark Bollinger. The recipients each received $500.

Candidate Visits Montrose

Colorado gubernatorial candidate Greg Brophy will be politicking in Montrose April 1st at Remax on South Townsend and later he’ll visit the Orchard City Town Hall to meet with Delta County Republicans. Brophy is a State Senator from eastern Colorado.

State DUI Crackdown

The latest holiday DUI enforcement campaign generated 471 arrests over St. Patrick’s Day weekend. That was 15 less than last year. CDOT reports one person was killed in an alcohol related accident.  Colorado’s “Heat Is On” campaign runs all year with 12 DUI enforcement periods on or near national holidays and large, public events.

Ridgway Resevoir Recovery

Authorities have confirmed the bodies of five people killed in a plane crash at Ridgway Reservoir are inside the plane at the bottom, approximately 65 feet deep.  According to preliminary reports, from the NTSB  the pilot reported that the plane was spinning before losing contact. A plane crash in the Ridgway Reservoir Saturday afternoon has left 5 people dead. A Ouray county official says the single-engine plane was heading from Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Montrose. The Colorado Senate approved bipartisan legislation to streamline development of small hydropower. The bill is expected to be signed by Governor Hickenlooper. Grand Junction Police Department need your help finding 30 year old Lance Dylan Worrall who is believed to be in the Grand Junction area.  Lance is white, 5’11”, 190 lbs, with brown hair and green eyes and he has failed to register as a sex offender. ACLU Files Lawsuit

The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a federal lawsuit against Grand Junction’s recent ordinance that bans aggressive begging. Grand Junction city officials say the City will assess the claims and will file an answer with the court and they will not be making any comments regarding the case.
