New Montrose Police Vehicle Worth Nearly $689,000

Hospital Upgrades coming in August

Mill Levy Campaign Launch

Mill Levy Supporters for Montrose County Public Schools launched their campaign for the November school tax initiative. It’s titled “Our Kids, Our Future.” Voters will be asked to approve a mill levy override that will provide property tax revenues of $2.9 million each year for the school district.  You can view their website at yesforschools.com.

Montrose Airport Receives Grant

The Montrose Regional Airport received a 1 point 7 million dollar grant that  will allow parking for two more commercial jets. An additional grant of $150,000 will let Hopkins Field in Nucla create a master plan for future upgrades.. I-70 Construction

Construction crews have begun an 11.5 mile improvement project between Rifle and Silt on I- 70. The Glenwood Post reports you can expect lane closures during the project and speeds reduced from 75 to 45 mph through the work zone. The project consists of removing and replacing concrete pavements slabs, guardrails, and repairing bridge decks.

Three Missing After Sunday Mudslide

A gigantic mudslide took place near Collbran Sunday night and three men are missing. The slide followed a steady rain on Sunday. Governor Coming To Montrose

Gov. John Hickenlooper will Sign the Hydroelectric Bill at The DMEA/Uncompahgre Valley Water Users Association’s South Canal Hydro Plant this Saturday the 31st. Chipeta Road Project Extended.

Montrose County officials say Public Works will be closing Chipeta Road (from West Main to Fruit Park Rd) on Tuesday, May 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., due to unforeseen circumstances in the asphalt paving process. It was supposed to be finished today.

Fire at Tru Value Hardware

Montrose Firefighters investigated a report of smoke and fire at Park Avenue True Value Hardware Tuesday. Traffic was blocked as crews scoured the building near Park & Main. Montrose Fire Chief Tad Rowan says the fire was on the roof and estimates the damage at around $5,000.
